is a great tour, taking in the majestic Salar de Uyuni, historic Potosi and the
colourful valley of Tupiza. Learn about the history, people and culture of this
wonderful country.
The riding will be on Salt flat, dirt roads and ash felt. The bike you will be riding is a Suzuki DR 650, perfect for these conditions.

Location .

It is possible
to take out damage insurance for the bike only, at a cost of $45.
Please make
sure you have your own personal health and accident insurance that covers you
for this type of activity.
The bikes come
with the basic Bolivian state third party insurance which pays medical expenses
to an injured third party only.

All year. In the rainy season (January to February) possible route changes due to weather conditions. Booking need to minimum of 2 weeks in advance.
Day 1
You will be arriving at our Uyuni office at 9.30a.m. After a quick briefing we will kit you out with your riding gear and get you comfortable on your bike. Ha, ha.
First destination, we will be heading up the mountain to the old historic mining town of Pulacayo. Here we will tour the town learning about its important role in Bolivian history.
Then we go back into Uyuni town to see the old abandoned steam trains at the Train Cemetery.
After taking lunch in the Black Salt restaurant we ride 20km to the small town of Colchani, the main entrance to the largest dry salt lake in the world. A short stop at the flags and Dakar monument at Playa Blanca and then we ride 80km across the Salar to the volcano Tunupa on the far side. Here we will be spending the night in a family run hostal made from salt. Ride distance 150km.
Day 2
After taking our breakfast, we ride a dirt road up the volcano. From here we get a breath taking view of the Salar, then visit a cave with mommies dating back 1300 years. Then back down and off to Chantani. Here we stop to see Santos museum and rock sculpture garden, a very interesting place. At Tuaha we enter back on the Salar, cruising through islands and heading to the island called Incahuasi. The famous island in the center of the Salar covered in giant cactus.
We
take our lunch here, quinoa soup and the best llama steak. After a tour of the
island we are back on the bikes heading back to Uyuni, stopping to take some
crazy photos on the way. Here you will spend the night in the Hotel Magica de
Uyuni. A pleasant 3 star hotel with private bath room, heating and Wi-Fi. Ride
distance 155km.
Day 3
Today we ride 40km on twisty ash felt, then turn off on to dirt track roads towards Tolapampa. Great scenery, valleys full of llamas, coloured mountains and small rivers to cross.
We
will have a pack lunch today which we will eat at the hot springs and take a
quick dip.
After
riding to Tica Tica and back on the ash felt to Potosi. Tonight we stay in Hotel
Argentum a very pleasant 3 star hotel. Ride distance 220km.
Day 4
After
breakfast we ride about 200km of twisty ash felt road to Tupiza, great scenery.
Arriving in Tupiza for lunch. Here the climate is warmer as we are at a lower
altitude. This afternoon you have time
to relax, enjoying the swimming pool and warm climate. We will be staying Hotel
Mitru a nice 3 star hotel.
Ride distance 205 km.
Day 5
Today
another 200km to Uyuni. A nice twisty ash felt road. We will stop in the mining
town of Atocha for lunch on route. Arriving back at our office in late
afternoon, the tour finishes here.
